Reporting is very powerful But Impossible to use

What differentiates Deltek Maconomy from other similar products?
Other systems have very basic reporting. Maconomy is different because its data structure is very deep, so you can make very detailed reports on project profitability that are impossible to get from other tools.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
If you know how to use it, you can get any data you want from maconomy. You can build very detailed reports about project profit, resource utilization, anything. The data is all there.
What do you dislike most about this product?
You need to be a super expert to build a new report. It is not for normal users. We have only two people in the whole company who know how to do it.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
You will need to hire a special consultant or train someone for many months just to handle the reporting.

What differentiates Deltek Maconomy from other similar products?
Simple project management tools only track tasks. maconomy is better because it focuses on the financial details of the project - budget, cost, revenue, and profit - which other tools ignore.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I can see every detail of my project in one place - the budget, the hours spent, the forecast, the billing plan. it gives me a lot of control.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It is too detailed. i have to spend hours every week just updating the project plan and budget in the system. it is too much administration for a project manager.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
It is a good tool for financial control, but not great for agile project management.
